Stitches!

Hey, Has anyone had stitches and had a bath? I’m three weeks post partum and been told two different things by midwives. One said it’s okay to bath as long as it’s just warm water and for 10 mins or so but another said not to bath at all! I’m dying for a dip or a little soak 😅

I didn’t have stitches this time but I did my first time and took baths. Just make sure the tub and water is clean and I actually put epsom salts in there to help heal. Of course there’s always a risk for infection but I never had a problem

I was exactly the same I’m almost 3 weeks pp I had my first bath Friday after just showering and it was amazing. My midwife said it was fine xx

I bathed after about a week after an episiotomy. Not for long and with Epsom salts to help heal. Was more for function than to actually relax!

I bathed with a few lavender oil drops as recommended by a midwife which is meant to help healing and bathing seemed to help the pain!

I was told when I had my section I’m 6 weeks post partum to not have water up to my middle so anything that’s not covering your stitches is fine they said to keep the site out of water as I had dissolving stitches but can still have a bath just as long as the site is not wet x

Oh this post partum life is so glam! Thanks everyone xxx

Yes it’s the best thing ever 😂x

I had stitches with my now 15 year old (30 in total) and 2 with my 2020 baby. Was told a bath was OK and if you have Epsom bath salts that's ok but be careful as it can dry your skin out. Plain warm water (no bubble bath, no salt) is better

I’ve had stitches due to tearing during both births. Both times I was told to soak in warm water to avoid the stitched drying out and getting too tight. First time I just did warm water, this time around I’ve used Epsom salts and I’ve healed much better and really felt the difference this time around.

I gave birth 22/4 and I had stitches for a second degree tear. I’ve already had a bath with coco mama salts. Intended to stay in for only 15 minutes but ended up being much longer. I did not wash in the bath purely just lay there to relax and had a shower after. I made sure to use a flannel afterward to pat dry my area thoroughly.
