I’m in the same boat as you! 39 weeks today, my next appointment at 40 weeks I’ll have a sweep but we genuinely thought baby would be here by now.. I’ve been trying all sorts too x
I’m 38 weeks on Thursday, have my first Sweep booked in then, my 2nd the Thursday after. I asked to be booked in to be induced on my due date and they were happy to do so, just asked for an elective induction. I had one with my 1st with no issues, there are risks to everything
@Gina I didn’t realise you could do an elective induction! Do they ask for a reason? I might call my midwife tomorrow and ask her😂
i’m in the exact same position with dates too!! would love to chat if you want to drop me a message… i have a sweep on friday but would rather have one sooner x
39 weeks on Wednesday and also want baby out but I'm planning to refuse sweeps. I had them with my first and the successfully one at 41 weeks only sent me into really slow labour that went nowhere, spiralled into other forms of induction and eventually EMCS. Might change my mind in a couple of weeks but plan A is to wait for labour to start completely naturally to give myself the best possible chance of VBAC 🤞🤞🤞
@Andreia she did ask why I wanted to have it, I just said I don’t want to go into spontaneous labour and it go too quickly that I can’t have an epidural. I thought they’d put up a bit more of a fight, but as long as you not requesting it early they’re really easy going about it. I know someone that requested one and gave the reason of “childcare”🤣
Hey, happy same due date!!! Nothing as yet. Try not to worry as it's all an estimate anyway! Obviously harder if you're uncomfortable/in pain. I read today that reflexology can help! Best of luck with it all x
@Gina I didn’t realise it was a thing! I’m definitely going to give it a go when I call up. I’m fed up, just want baby out but she’s being so stubborn!! Thank you x
Just to support what @Paulina said I know it’s sooo uncomfortable and you just want them out but I also had an early induction last time and really regret it, it put me and baby in a really risky situation and we ended up with an emergency Csection too, then we both were on antibiotics via drip for a while as we got an infection when I stopped progressing and my little one needed some oxygen as he wasn’t quite ready to breathe on his own at 39 weeks so as much as you can tryyy to wait it out just a little longer so that your birth will go a lot smoother and you and baby will be ready for it! (Obviously if you go into labour early on your own that’s fine as your body is telling you that you and baby are ready!)
Will also be 40 weeks on Thursday, have a regular midwife appointment on Wednesday and she's offered to do a sweep for me which I believe I'm going to take it just to see if it helps things along
I’m 40 weeks on Friday. Declined the sweeps for now (don’t do well with vaginal examinations and tense my body to the point where I’m in horrible pain) Had an elective c section June 2022 as was diagnosed with GD. I’m hoping for a VBAC this time round for quicker recovery but want labour to be spontaneous and no sweeps/induction required. 😕x
I echo what’s been said about electing an induction because you’re exhausted/uncomfortable/want baby here. Obviously everyone is entitled to their choices & there are lots of positive induction stories, but I also had a very negative first birth due to an induction. Mine was early for medical reasons (so perhaps that’s why) but baby definitely wasn’t ready to come out. If you can wait it out, I’d reccomend it! Each trust is different for what they’ll allow but from all my reasearch/reading about birth in the NHS is that they’re increasingly happy to medicalise it/intervene where it isn’t always necessary, often actively encouraging inductions to help them manage births/staffing. It’s worth remembering that induction is a medical procedure involving drugs that do carry risk to you and your baby. Of course when necessary the risks/pros can be considered and induction is the right decision but if baby is happy and healthy it may be better for you both to hold on just a little longer x
Clary sage oil in a diffuser set off my contractions something rotten before! If you haven't tried it x
I’m 38+3 and had my first sweep yesterday, second sweep booked for Wednesday and my third sweep booked for Friday. I also have an induction booked for Friday which I’m desperately trying to avoid and planning to decline (hence the sweeps). Still trying everything naturally to induce labour too!
