I think we all go a bit crazy trying to bring on labour (I just spent good half an hour this afternoon looking up reflexology... 🤦🏻♀️). That said, the pineapple thing is a complete myth. Pineapple contains bromelain which is an enzyme that, in short, digests protein. It's commonly used as meat tenderiser. Perhaps that's where the myth comes from. But there really isn't that much of a chance for that enzyme to make its way from your stomach to your uterus. There's some very weak evidence from animal studies that bromelain could cause uterine contractions but at the same time it could also inhibit prostaglandins so it stands to reason that it could have an inhibitive effect on labour starting. Also, the only study that I could actually find wasn't even in live animals, it was an in vitro study done on small samples of uterine tissue from rats... That said, pineapple is delicious and has plenty of vitamins so go for it if you want! X
I keep eating big packs of pre cut pineapple from Aldi 🤣 I love it anyway but if it helps it’s a winner. Currently still have a baby’s head hanging in my vagina 🤪😅
Want to know as well, have started eating pineapple since yesterday.
