Perforated ear drum

So my LG is super prone to ear infections and the recent one was really bad and she had a perforated ear drum. It's been a few weeks now, although she's still battling a cold too and we've noticed her hearing is worse off. She doesn't respond when we whisper but if we talk in normal voice then I think she can still hear us. Read online that it's temporary. Did this happen to anyone else and could you share your experience. I thought she was being difficult lately when in fact I'm just a horrible mum who didn't notice her child can't hear 😭

I suffer from ear infections as an adult (and I did as a child too) my ear drum has perforated twice this year. And although it sounds awful I’m so glad it did as it let’s all the pressure out! And the pain usually goes once your ear drum has perforated. However my hearing has only just returned to normal and it’s taken about 2 months. My left ear drum did not burst so I had glue ear which is so much worse for hearing loss than the perforation. I’m so sorry your child has to go through this it is miserable!

@Rachael sorry you're going through it too! I'm just beating myself up it's taken me time to notice she can't hear whispers.

Don’t worry! My son has never passed a hearing test but he can definitely hear! Sometimes it’s hard to tell what they can and can’t hear when they’re so little
