Elective C-Section

FTM here- 22 weeks, I am thinking about asking for elective c-section as I really don’t want to go overdue, I don’t want to be induced (my worst nightmare) and I get so anxious about things so I think having a set day will be better for me than not knowing when I’ll go into labour as I just won’t be able to rest until baby is here. Do midwife’s for Medway hospital allow this or do they only allow it for medical reasons?

I had one at Medway for maternal choice! No medical reasons :)

I had it done for medical reasons (I'm diabetic). They give you a call and tell you the date and time. You get a week notice for when you will have it done. Pre op is done the day before near enough. You get told information, tablets and that. Turn up to the ward very early and wait on a wing in a gown and stuff where you talk to all the surgery people. If I have another one I would probably still go that route again.

@Deena was your midwife supportive?

She was! She did ask me why, but just be firm as to why you want one. You’ll have an appt at the hospital to discuss with the doctor, it’s their decision. My appt was quick and easy. They ask why, run you through risks and approved it in about 10 mins lol

My midwife was really supportive and really pushed for it for me. However I had to have several appointments with consultants who did try and put me off by telling me it wasn’t in my best interest etc but if it’s what I wanted they would honour it x

My SIL had an elective at Medway too, she said it was tricky to get them to approve her as they wanted to push for a 'natural' birth I had all intentions of a natural birth, ending in an emergency section and I was so jealous of my SIL who had a planned section instead Next time, I'm going for planned, it seemed so much calmer
