EBF to prescribed formula

I’m currently EBF my 6 week old but my GP wants to rule out a milk allergy due to a few issues he has been having ( skin rash that raises when feeding, gassy, struggling to pass wind, struggling to poo without help, mucous in poo, green poo, tiny tiny spots of blood in poo, a lot of straining and crying ) because I’ve been struggling with my appetite and weakness we have decided to try prescribed formula - should I wean him off the breast over a few days or just make the change straight away? Has anyone else done this and have any advice? I’m hoping to pump incase it isn’t a milk allergy 🤞

Could you stop eating dairy yourself? That would be hell for me but If it’s a cows milk protein allergy I have a friend who stopped having dairy herself and that really helped her baby. Not been in this position myself but I’d be tempted to do a straight change to see if things improve and if they do then consider changing your diet or sticking with the formula

I did a straight change over with my daughter and the results are quite quick to see in the baby. I just found it far too difficult to cut dairy out entirely for myself but honestly the prescribed milk was a saviour. All the best x

@Lisa cutting out dairy for 6 weeks was an option but I struggle with my appetite and weakness already without limit on foods also, the prescribed formula results are a lot quicker if it is an allergy, which we are hoping it not to be

Our story , very similar and also acid reflux and on omeprazole since he was 3 months old, he us 5 and half now. Ive cut dairy for 3 weeks and i do see an improvement, however last week i asked for some formula because i want him to have some aswell.. well total fail. He would not take it , if he had 10 ml is a lot.. then he didnt poop for 7 days .. so i gave up .. may try again .. but i doubt it he would take it .. as before we tried normal formula few brands and he wouldnt have it …
