First time mum here with a question/advice

My little girl is almost 4 month old now, but I’m struggling with her naps during the day, She will only contact nap, as soon as I put her down she wakes up, Now with this heat I’ve tried my hardest to get her to sleep without being attached to me, Today we achieved the most time which was 20mins, However im sure we will be back to square one again tomorrow 💔, I need help!🙈🤣 Can’t get mum done 💔, between entertaining her and then her sleeping on me🤣

I have the same problem but trying to embrace it and telling myself that all of the contact naps are the reason she sleeps 10 hours uninterrupted in her crib at night 🙃 I’ve just embraced the sling nap life. Whack her in a sling/carrier and go about your day. It’s starting to play havoc on my knees, especially when I’m getting the washing out of the machine, but we move!

Oh, they do say to just try and do one nap a day in the crib and that nap should be the first one, which we do…and she goes down for it for about 20-40 minutes, unless I leave the room, in which case it’s more like 10-20 minutes

It could be a growth spurt 😘 20 mins is great, better than nothing. Keep perceiving xx

Oh you’re so lucky! My little one still isn’t great at night either! But she’s getting better! She has her last bottle around 9/10 and only wakes up once during the night but is awake by 5/6 in the morning 🫠

It’s so normal for them to have to learn that naps happen in the cot. I’d start with first nap of the day and replicate bed time so dark room, white noise etc and maybe try seeing if you can settle her in the cot. Even if it lasts 10 mins the first time if you’re consistent with it she will start to learn that it’s part of the routine. It’s still normal for naps to be quite short at this age as they learn to connect sleep cycles and some babies might not get that until 6ish months but even if you’re getting 1-2 45 min naps in the cot per day you’ll he doing great. It just takes practise and consistency x

Thank you ☺️, appreciate your response, I will keep trying then, I’m sure we will get there eventually 🤞🏻xx

You will - sleeping well is a skill just like eating / potty training etc. most babies unless they are just magical sleepers (super rare) will need help with a good routine and help with learning independent sleep, babies tend to thrive when they know what’s happening next! I’d say that 4-6 months of age you’re likely to see more success with it as babies have by then developed the “ability” to learn how to sleep x
