Hypotonia & hypermobility
Hi all, just wondering if anyone has been through a similar experience and maybe some positive stories?!
My daughter has just turned one. We have been told she is hypermobile in her hips, knees and ankles and has low muscle tone (hypotonia) in her legs. They have no resistance when she lies on her back and I push her legs! She bum shuffles (since 10 months) but doesn’t crawl. She was late to roll and still only rolls one way. She will pull to knees (very wide knees!) has pulled to stand a few times but locks her knees so doesn’t use her muscles.
She is having a blood test next week to see if we can rule some things out and i’m worrying so much! She is happy, smiley, knows her name, babbles etc… but she has also has tiny feet, slow growth, is always poorly… 😥
I don’t know much about it but I have been googling… I am having a hard time not letting my brain spiral… 🤯

Hi Laura, no advice I am afraid but I found your post because I was looking for anyone else with a baby with hypermobile ankles. Not actually got a diagnosis yet but I have hypermobility so suspect that is the cause. My son has been slow to roll, crawl, stand and now he stands his feet are facing almost 90 degrees. Hi Laura, my LB is 26 months and has hypotonia and hypermobility. He’s just started to take some very wobbly first steps and wasn’t mobile until 14 months, so bum shuffling at 10 months is great! He’s still crawling and knee walking for the most part.
Niko also has tiny feet - Clark’s didn’t carry his size until he was 18 months! He’s small and always ill too, and we were told his hips, ankles and knees were very bendy.
I totally get the spiralling and wish I could give you more info, but there’s just not a lot out there and we’re waiting/looking for answers ourselves.
I will say, Niko is the world’s happiest kid. His difference in ability hasn’t stopped him from finding humour in everything and smiling from morning to night. It’s harder on us than it is them, I think!
I’ve seen stories about hypo/hyper kids walking at a year, and others at 2.5. This is nothing you’ve done wrong ❤️ stay strong x
