Allan–Herndon–Dudley Syndrome/Mct8 Deficiency

My son who has been dealing with hypotonia has recently been diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Allan–Herndon–Dudley Syndrome or Mct8 Deficiency. I was curious if anyone has a child with this condition or if anyone has a child who has similar sounding symptoms.

Hypotonia superheroes

Hi everyone! I’m a mama to my sweet 2-year-old daughter Valentina. She was diagnosed with hypotonia and uses a walker to get around. Even though things aren’t always easy, she’s one of the bravest little girls I know — always smiling, always trying, and never giving up. 💪

Hypotonia might make some things take longer, but it also builds a strength that’s hard to put into words. I know there are so many other amazing, strong kids out there just like her — and brave parents too. I’d really love to connect with other moms in the area going through similar journeys. Whether it’s for support, playdates, or just someone to talk to — Valentina and I would love to make some new friends!

Hypotonia & hypermobility

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has been through a similar experience and maybe some positive stories?!

My daughter has just turned one. We have been told she is hypermobile in her hips, knees and ankles and has low muscle tone (hypotonia) in her legs. They have no resistance when she lies on her back and I push her legs! She bum shuffles (since 10 months) but doesn’t crawl. She was late to roll and still only rolls one way. She will pull to knees (very wide knees!) has pulled to stand a few times but locks her knees so doesn’t use her muscles.

She is having a blood test next week to see if we can rule some things out and i’m worrying so much! She is happy, smiley, knows her name, babbles etc… but she has also has tiny feet, slow growth, is always poorly… 😥

I don’t know much about it but I have been googling… I am having a hard time not letting my brain spiral… 🤯

Advice or words of encouragement

So I’m a new momma and my sweet girl is going to be one in nine days! But recently I’ve been feeling like a failure cause she can’t crawl or walk yet. She was born with hip dysplasia and had to wear a palvik harness for two months and then later we were told she had low muscle tone. We’ve been doing physical therapy for a couple months now but I personally don’t know anyone who has been through this before and I’m just having a hard time with it all and feel really helpless.
