Norivirus jab

So the first lot he had all of the jabs but this time I’m unsure if I should get him vaccinated for norovirus? Obviously the meningitis one is extremely important but I don’t get the need for the others if I’m honest

I would recommend getting all the vaccines but that's my opinion. Norovirus right now there have been quite a lot of cases in the hospitals as well depending on where you live sorry

Get all the jabs imo.. I’m a nurse and I’ve seen norovirua and how it spreads. I’d never dream of seeing my baby go through that ..

Avatar

I’ve never heard of a norovirus jab? Buut I’d get all of them to be as safe as possible!

Avatar

@Skye same as me it spreads so quickly doesn't it, the wards where full of people with norovirus at one point

My son ended up hospitalised for three days and two night with noro in December. Lots of blood being taken, tests done etc😞 it was absolutely awful. The choice is absolutely your own, but that experience alone, I feel I have to share.

is it sickness and diroeha?

I love that that’s an option for y’all because norovirus is ROUGH. My kids were only offered a liquid form for rotavirus which is like a stomach bug I assume.

Avatar

Norovirus and rotavirus are both a viral stomach bugs, gastrointeritis. I’d vaccinate for both in my opinion as both are not ideal and horrible to see. I’d also hate to know someone else’s kid got it from my kid and something terrible happened to them such as a hospital stay because I didn’t vaccinate!

But I don’t think a norovirus vaccine exists yet that isn’t in trials?

There’s defo a norovirus vaccine as he had it with his first lot of jabs. She said he’d get an upset stomach and wash my hands well after he’s pooed as I could catch it because it’s live x

Avatar

maybe it’s the same over here as he did have one in the mouth too in liquid form d

Avatar

Yes it’s sickness and diarrhoea

Avatar

wards are always closed with it aren’t they 😂

Avatar

That’s the rotavirus vaccine, you get it at the 1st and 2nd immunisations but not the 3rd set. It’s a liquid one by mouth x

Avatar

yeah it's really bad, although for my ward it's the flu right now

Avatar

I’m not back at work yet but there’s probably something haha

I think the best thing to do is to do your own research and make a decision that you are comfortable with regardless of other people’s opinions.

Having norovirus as an adult sucks alone- I was even hospitalized once for it. I can't imagine how rough it would be on my little ones- not to mention it would hit everyone in the house at that point. I feel it is better safe than sorry. My 1st had no issue with the vaccine. I don't think my 2nd has had it yet, but I'll have them give it to them when the time comes.

I get my son any and all vaccines that are proven effective
I would rather give his immune system a leg up on big viruses than risk him falling really ill on his first exposure.
My son has not had a bad reaction to any of his vaccines and he’s 14 months old. We follow our pediatrician’s suggestion of timeline as well with no delays.

Of course I’d do my own research anyway, which I have done. I’m just interested in other people’s opinions too
