We're going through the same thing, including getting dressed. It's super stressful and has been going on for a few weeks now. We try giving her 10-15 minutes, but then we just have to go ahead and do it even if it results in a tantrum. We let her get it out, stay calm, offer hugs and love, and explain why it needs to happen. Really hoping it passes soon.
My boy was the same with nappy changes at 1 so we started potty training and it took the tantrums away. It creates something new around the task at hand. With showering could you maybe try going in with him? If you’re open to that. Again it’s creating something new around the task. With brushing teeth my boy will only let me brush them when he’s in the bath any other time he throws a fit so we just stick to bath time at the moment
We went through about a month of this, thankfully he’s getting better but there where days I cancelled plans because I just couldn’t get him ready 🙈 l found just putting him in the shower rather than the bath helped since he wouldn’t sit down anyway and for teeth I just needed to wait till someone else was there to hold him while I brushed them best I could (wasn’t great but it was something) and for nappies I pretended to change his teddies first and also bribed him with a biscuit for afterwards sometimes 🤣 but it has got better again so hopefully it does for you as well.
Oh some great ideas here thank you all!
It’s so hard isn’t it! I’m sure you’re doing an amazing job. I think it is a phase. I’ve found the twos to be really frustrating and upsetting. My daughter hates her face being cleaned and won’t come up with me to have a bath. I make it fun and bargain with her by saying stuff like “look at all these bubbles, you have to see this” and “quick look!” Sometimes I’ll take her hand and I’ll say run with me to do the things I want to do. Good luck!
My little boy is exactly the same with brushing teeth! He used to happily let me brush his teeth but since he turned 2 he refuses to let me do it 😣the only way is if I let him do it himself which obvs isn't the best but we brush our teeth together, I prompt him like give those front teeth a scrubbadubdub and don't forget your big teeth at the back and your tongue and try make it fun. If I'm lucky he'll let me go over them, I'm just hoping it is a faze that will pass soon enough 😅
Going through the same with nappy changes.
As they are essential things you just have to do them as usual as ask if he wants to use the potty . It’ll pass
