I have a health visitor coming on Tuesday and I’m anxious because we’re renovating our house at the moment and worried they’re going to say about it. Can anyone tell me what happens when they come to visit?

Learn more about our guidelines. As long as you’re baby is safe they’ll have no issues! Mainly they just weigh the baby check they’re doing okay and check if you have any concerns x
They'll say nothing
You just need to show a safe sleep space for baby and food prep if needed
I was also anxious for the first visit. My Health visitor was lovely! They just ask you how your getting on, offer support. Check how baby is (weight, length Etc). Mine did look to see where baby was sleeping and check it was safe. But I don't think all health visitors do that.. not sure. Just giving you the heads up xx
We were renovating ours too. We had to show there were dust free safe spaces for her to be the majority of the time and safe sleeping space but that was it
You don’t need to show them anything. They shouldn’t be asking to inspect anything in your home as that’s not their remit and I would be questioning them if they ever asking to see where my child sleeps. They are there to weigh the baby and check in about developmental milestones. Everyone has renovated their home at some point so I honestly wouldn’t worry. Obviously if they came out to absolute dirt and squaller then they might raise concerns but that’s a whole different thing to your situation x
