It progressed labor for me quicker, but it did make me develop an infection which I ended up having to be on antibiotics and stay in the hospital longer afterwards
It did help me progress but omg my pain level was like a 1 before. As soon as they broke my water manually the pain of my contractions shot up to like a pain level of 12/10. One of the nurses definitely did warn me that could happen before but I was desperate at that point.
I got mine broken not to progress labor but because my twin A monitor kept falling off so they wanted to attach it directly to him. I can say the combo of pitocin and getting your water broke is the worst pain I’ve ever felt. My contractions were mild before even with pitocin. I got to 8cm before they broke it. All that to say wouldn’t recommend unless medically necessary
Yes I was in labor at 4 cm dilated for several hours (like 6-9 hrs) didn’t keep track so I don’t really know exactly how long but somewhere around there they broke my water after I asked them to and it helped very much speed things up. I’m talking he came within 2 hours I believe
Yup had my water broken and 2 hours later was 10cm dilated and pushing
they broke my water at the hospital and 10mins later i was 10cm and pushing baby out lmao
For my first pregnancy they broke my water at 8cm and I was still in labor for 7 more hours. For my second pregnancy they broke my water at 10cm and baby was out in 20 min. I wanted it to speed up labor for my first but baby was stuck and it didn’t really do much. For the second I knew my body and that breaking my water was the only thing keeping me from delivering baby so it did help. Contractions got way more painful after breaking the water so just be aware of that.
My water half broke, they then fully broke it 24 hours later... I was 1cm and they gave me the hormone drip... 5 hours later my lil boy was here which was too fast for my body and I tore and got cut - I surprised the midwife as she expected me to still be in labour at shift change 7 hours after 😅 Next time I would probably be dine with them breaking the waters but I'd want to hold off of the gogo-juice until wed seen if it had progressed by itself 🤷♀️
Not a bloody clue! I was induced and had 4 different people try pop my waters and not one of them could tell me if they did or not! Never felt a pop or gush or anything! Very weird🤣
41 weeks. Waters broken at 4pm (didn’t have any intervention prior) and cramps started at 6pm, baby was born at 10:30pm. It did bring on labour but it was intense and painful - I wanted to avoid an induction for that reason
didn’t help with my first birth and my second was born in her sac, the waters never broke themselves x
Yep 3cm and had my waters broken. 2 hours later baby was born
Definitely helped me progress! Went in to be induced but was told I was dilated between 1cm-2cm so they could break my waters. They did so at 11pm, at 1am I was 4cm and baby girl was born at 3:17am 🤣 Safe to say it went from 0-100 very quickly!
It didn’t speed things up for me (it was 24 hours overall, they broke my waters at around hour eight and I still wasn’t dilating any quicker) and it’s very uncomfortable/ painful (not trying to put you off at all, and of course you might do it and it really helps and you find it bearable). Good luck either way:)

Part of my waters broke at home at 7am, I went to the hospital in the afternoon as I was due an induction. They broke the rest of my waters. Contractions were very painful and I didn't have my son until 11.27am the next day. So for me it did not speed anything up and it was very painful. I had gas and air only until I went to theatre and my son was born with forceps as he was a bit stuck.
No i ended up having a emergency c-section.. but that's because of other things not waters being broken.
I was induced by gel and went into labour without my waters breaking. I got to 9cm without my waters breaking (took over 2 days from gel insertion) so they broke them then and I delivered our LG about 1hr later x
2x they’ve ruptured my membranes the same time they’ve started pitocin. 1st - popped/started at 6:30pm & baby was born at 10:20pm same day 2nd time - popped/started around 3:30pm & baby was born at 5:32pm again same day. But I have precipitous labours My second baby was born naturally. I had him 15mins after getting to hospital. I walked to the labour ward, put on the bed and that’s when my waters broke
Went in at 6cm and got my membrane’s ruptured. I didn’t progress and sat at 6-7 for hours. Ended up getting Pitocin
