Getting out of bed with a next to me cot

Anyone who used a next to me for baby, how did you get out of bed in the first week or so? I’ve been told to sit up and then swing legs over the edge of the bed to get up, but the cot would be right where my legs need to go, any tips?! Thanks!

I just scooted down a bit once sat up and had the next to me as high as possible, bit tricky but managed it okay

Get a lot of pillows and sleep slightly elevated. I actually had the next to me next to my partner for the first 2 weeks and he was quicker to get up and pick baby up for me

Use a long exercise band, tie it to the bed and sit up with that, then you can scoot a bit, but personally mine never needed the side down so we had a small gap

I swapped sides with my Husband, and when baby needed feeding he just passed her over to me, as I wouldn't have been able to pick her up out of it anyway

I couldn't 😔 I had to zip the side up and have it just as a regular cot for the first few weeks. Once I was able to scoot down past it we dropped the side and linked it to the bed ❤️

We didn't have ours right next to the bed so I had enough of a gap to scoot past

I just had it a couple feet away from the bed as I couldn’t have leaned to pick him up anyway so getting up to get him worked better! I’ve just kept it like that because we’re all sleeping well so i don’t want to change it 😆

I just scooted down the bed first being getting off x

I had it away from the bed or at the end of the bed

I left a gap as well.

I slept on the other side and my partner slept next to her no chance i would have been able to scoot down

I swapped sides with my partner
