I had my first at East Surrey and my second at Epsom. I had great experiences with both before birth, but Epsom was better postpartum as it was less busy.
Thank you @Lyra @Susan @Stella , really appreciate your thoughts! Always nice to hear from ppl who have recent views! I think post care at most hospitals tends to not be great unfortunately
St Helier is incredible! Had such amazing care for my first and now there for my 2nd and they’ve given me the same midwife who did all my appointments first time. We have a slightly complex family situation and they have never judged always treated me with kindness and care
I had my baby at east Surrey in March and they were brilliant with me and my new born
I had my little girl in April at East Surrey, the midwife’s were excellent and couldn’t fault it one bit x
I’m 28 weeks tomorrow and under St Helier. Cannot fault them apart from telling me one appointment was by telephone, only for me to wait in all day for a call and then found out that they had me as a “did not show” for the appointment (turns out it was face to face, not telephone!) I’ve had lots of extra appointments and scans due to baby’s growth & my heart condition and each time staff are friendly and caring.
@Jess oh no how frustrating but other then that how nice to hear how caring they have been!
Epsom fan here!! They were amazing! You also get a private room at a cost, but it is reasonable. It’s a quiet maternity ward so it makes it a more comfortable experience
I had my baby at Croydon Mayday and had good experiences there. I've heard bad things about St. Hellier, but people's experiences are very much theirs. You'll always have good and bad experiences. I would honestly look at distant as well. There's nothing worse than being in labour and having the travel for hours in rush hour. Or having am emergency and have to drive 45 min in the middle of the night.
I had a horrible experience at East Surrey with my first and a wonderful experience at St Helier with my second! Yes to private room at St Helier, they only gave me one at East Surrey after 8 days of being on wards and begging (obviously would pay for it). Happy to share more details if you want to DM!
Thank you all! This is considered a geriatric pregnancy, wonder if anyone else’s was too and how the midwives were with you in regards to that?
I had my first born at east Surrey hospital and i have not got a bad thing to say about the post care but my second child i had at croydon university hospital and had horrendous post care.
