You have to get a fit to fly certificate from your midwife, but check the airlines and holiday companies as some may not let you fly this late, also check your travel insurance too
I wouldn’t. But definitely check travel insurance because they are unlikely to cover you if you travel so late in pregnancy if you do go into labour overseas, which could become very expensive!
I highly doubt you would get a fit to fly certificate at such a late stage. X
I think you should try to fly back before you are 36 weeks. Perhaps buy it last minute and book a scan a couple of weeks before to check that everything is fine.
Most airlines won’t let you fly at 36 weeks as they don’t want you possibly going into labour mid flight. Could you do a baby moon closer to home for a few days and then take baby away with you when they are 3/4 months old? Xx
I personally wouldn’t, could go into labour any time now!?
Thanks all. I went overdue with my first so not anticipating going into labour early. Thanks for your suggestions xx
You’ll have to check the policy of the airline you’re flying with. I went to the states with British Airways and theirs is up to the end of 36 weeks with a fit to fly letter. I didn’t have a problem getting this from the midwife, as haven’t had any issues so far. She recommended flight socks and keep hydrated. Everything worked out fine, just check your insurance policy/let them know you’re pregnant, so you’re covered
It’s risky as you could go into labour anytime from now x
