There are people who do lessons very young, it's just not the same thing as an older kid would have. There's a place near me that has a class for 3 months and up, and it's just for helping them feel comfortable in the water and learning to float on their back. The 'lesson' part is probably more for the parent than the baby
Like what Stacy said, when I asked the pediatrician what she thought, she said it’s basically a nice bonding experience but they’re not going to retain much skill-wise. I did it from like 4-6 months with my son and we always had a great time
I actually used to teach swim lessons and they could start at 4months. Baby classes were for getting used to water, we'd dunk them under, have them float on their back, & practing kicking on their belly. We sang songs and little activities.
Hi! I'm a swim instructor. Infants can start swim lessons at 6 months! It's just mostly them processing and basic skills.
I started when my baby was 2 months old and we loved it. It was a baby’s pool with salted water. Chlorine is a bit risky for their skin at that age.
Our pediatrician recommends avoiding chlorine pools until 6 months but if it’s not chlorine I’d think you could start earlier to get them used to the water!
ISR does 6 months but my local instructor personally does not take clients until 1 year old.
