Cough advice

I’m just looking for some advice. My little one has had a cough now for around 5 weeks. We went to the GP they said her chest sounds clear, come back in 3 weeks. The cough is not getting better and it’s really impacting her sleep, she’s waking up frequently having a coughing fit. Is it normal for babies to have coughs for this long or should I be going back to the GP and pressing for more answers.

My daughter had a cough for ages and it sounded horrible but the GP said that her chest was clear and so best option was the snuflebabe stuff and a humidifier it eventually passed. It's tough though

My son has had a cough for ages. Months. Not helped by him having an older sister so germs are constantly coming home from nursery. He’s been checked multiple times but his chest is clear - the Dr described it as when we have a chesty cough we cough up the phlegm but babies don’t so it’s just being recycled.

My lg is exactly the same, even down to what the doctor said. Sadly it just takes longer to get out of their systems and all we can do is make sure it doesn’t become a chest infection or see the doctor if we have any doubt

We're on week 4 after starting at nursery. He even got blocked tear ducts which looked like he'd been punched in the face. It's slowly starting to get better though

We had the exact same it’s horrible seeing them cough so bad isn’t it! GP said the same to us also. As soon as we started benylin infants cough syrup we noticed a massive change and the coughing being so consistent. Cleared after about 4 days completely and it stopped waking her straight away! Hope your LO is better soon xx
