Big baby

I had a growth scan last week at 32 weeks and have been told baby is measuring big (look at the size of his head!!😫) They’ve booked another scan for 36/37 weeks to check and if necessary, offer me an induction. Really not wanting to be induced, will see what they say at the next scan and make my decision but anyone else got a big baby or had a big baby before? My first baby was born at 8oz 4oz.

I’d always take what they say at scans with a pinch of salt , they can be very very offf

If you don’t want to get induced don’t let them force it upon you!

I keep telling myself that it could be wrong as I’ve seen people online get told one thing then turns out completely different! But my husband’s family do have big babies with big heads🥴 I’ll see what they say at the next scan, I’m really hoping for a home birth and I feel like there are more risks with induction/intervention than having a big baby… but I’m hoping to just be open minded and do what’s best🤞

I highly recommend you read “In Your Own Time” by Dr Sara Wickham! I’m not a midwife or professional so take my advice with critical thinking but a “big baby” is not necessarily a good reason for induction. Recent findings from a research study suggest it may be unnecessary… and potentially cause more intervention. Like I said, I’m not a professional but I would question it!

I was induced at 38 weeks with my first because all of the growth scans predicted him to be a big baby, they thought he was going to be 10lbs+ induction was absolutely horrific and ended in an emergency c section, baby was born 7lb 10!!! No matter what the growth scans say this time I am 1000% refusing an induction. I just wish I had read up more about it before agreeing to it so please do not worry too much about the growth scan measurements and do some research before making your decision.
