Breastfeeding/bottle

I plan on breastfeeding and was wondering when baby would be able to use a bottle if dad is taking care of baby if I was ever gone. If breastfeeding goes well, I don’t want to mess up the process if introduced to a bottle.

The breastfeeding classes I’ve taken recommend waiting until baby is 3-4 weeks old to introduce a bottle! That way breastfeeding is well established

What Tabitha said. Also finding a bottle/nipple that is recommended by lactation consultants. The hot button phrase you can look up “triangle method” to help with the search!

I introduced it when even I felt like it. I think people make to much of a fuss about it. I’ve never had a problem going back and forth with either of my kids

We introduced the bottle as soon as I felt I needed that extra bit of sleep, maybe around a couple weeks, usually during night feeds. It also helped with putting baby to sleep as it seemed easier for him to put her down than for me to.

We introduced a bottle right away because I couldn’t produce milk at first and my baby never had a problem feeding from the breast or the bottle. He also used a paci from day 1. It worked for us and he switched back and forth with no problems once my milk came in

We did both immediately at birth and had no issues personally. I've heard from people I know who waited a few weeks to introduce the bottle and the baby absolutely refused the bottle.

Also, look for bottles that have a wide and gradual slope... Pigeon, Lansinoh, Gulicola, Nuk perfect match... etc.

We immediately started one bottle after the first night feed to give me a longer stretch of sleep. I’ve never had issues with nipple confusion with my kids!

I primarily breastfed, but began offering a bottle day 1 in the hospital. Nipple confusion is complete crap IMO. Baby never had any issues with latch or with supply.

Everyone I know go waited struggled with their baby taking a bottle.

Recommendation is waiting a month or so to establish supply. But whenever it won't confuse the baby or anything

Health Visitor Home Visit

Hii, could anyone explain what the health visitor does on their home visit?

Also if anyone had a home birth, what the midwife home risk assessment involves?

I’ve got 3 home visits coming up in the next two weeks (health visitor, midwives and doula) and it’s making me nervous for some reason. I think having 3 just feels like a lot and a bit invasive if that makes sense!

Did you know this was a thing?

Didn’t know this existed! I’m actually not breastfeeding 2nd time round (though wish I did) after a bad experience with my 1st baby. But this is something I 100% needed 1st time round.

Fighting naps

Does anybody else feel like they spend all day trying to get baby to nap? I get tempted to give up as he must not be that tired but he is too cranky to play or do anything else!

How are we entertaining our babies

What toys does everyone have for their 7 month old?
Nothing is satisfying my little girl she's got blocks, rattles, playmats loads more. She would much rather hold my hands and walk all day but I cant physically do that and whenever I put her down to play she just wont, is this just a faze?

Any experience with different teats?

Hey Mamas

So my little girl is exclusively breastfed but she wont even take FRESHLY PUMP milk from the bottle. I had a whole 4oz that was going to waste and baby girl was just massanging her gums and smiling lol :/
Ive tried adding extra holes with a needle, the ol' switcheroo (BF first then switch ti bottle) but she's very keen and notices straight away.
Im currently using Nuby and Tommee silicone bottles, and I would like to try more softer, boob-like teats.

Id ideally like her to take a bottle so Dad can give me a REAL break yknow.

Has anyone had this same experience? Any teats one would recommend?
Thank you in advance!
