Anemia

Did anyone have a low hemoglobin after surgery? Mine was low and needed an iron transfusion. If so how long did it take for you to recover? I am 6 weeks PP and having my first period and I feel like I’m going to collapse at the end of the day my bleeding is worse than after delivery

I’d say call your dr. A period shouldn’t be worse than post partum bleeding. Now I had to get iron transfusions at the hospital before having my second. Just now got a period for the second time and feel like I’m cramping bad

I also had to have an iron transfusion after my csection (I think I was at a 12 😬).. that was early october. I had some routine blood work done at about 4 months postpartum and the same level was up to 20.. so going up. Just verry slowly! I also don’t eat meat so I wasn’t all that surprised because it’s always on the lower side! … I would seek support from your doctor though - between supplements and proper eating the number should rise eventually!

@Breauna @Amanda thank you both! I was supposed to have my 6 week follow up Monday but they rescheduled me Thursday so I will definitely bring it up. My hemoglobin was 9.7 after delivery 😅

My hemoglobin was 6.2 after delivery and I ended up getting 2 blood transfusions. I never really had any symptoms after I was discharged though. I would definitely bring it up to your provider to have some labs drawn just in case.

Yes same! I received two iron transfusions. Continue to take your prenatal vitamin and iron tablet as prescribed too. Don’t stand up too quickly. Stay hydrated. And if have a lot of bleeding, talk to your OB, they may suggest a birth control or do an ultrasound to make sure there’s nothing going on with your uterus
