Getting rid of the dummy

My boy is one next week and I really want to get rid of the dummy before he starts nursery. He only has it for sleeping but definitely relies on it. Any tips? Or do I just go cold turkey? Thanks!

Id let him keep it for now there is no rush if he only uses it for sleepsi took my sons away about 2 and a half and did it cold turkey and shocked me how well he did x

Yeah if he only has for sleeping that’s already really good. Plus with a big change coming up of going nursery I’d defo be inclined to keep that dummy for the min xxx

My daughter only used hers to fall asleep so we tried taking it away as soon as she was one. Cold turkey. First night maybe an extra 15-20 minutes of crying/ unsettled then slept great. 2nd night an extra 10 mins of fussing then that was her. Best decision for us as she never looked for one after that. It’s what works for you best. Never feel like you have to take it away but also know it is okay to! x
