Hey! Does anyone have any advice to encourage my 15 month old to start walking? He does it every once in awhile and he very much knows how to do it but chooses to crawl. I have tried having him wear shoes and having him walk while holding onto a finger, but as soon as I let go of him he falls to the ground. He takes like 3-4 steps at a time and then just falls down. Any advice would be great!

My daughter is the same way!

He will get it! My daughter just started 1 day before turning 16 months. She held on to everything and pushed her wagon for the longest time and then finally let go!

My daughter started to walk right after her 15 month ! She’ll be 16 months May 23 and I would stand her up constantly help her use her walker really get her legs strong walk her around with one finger and really celebrate when she even did one step by herself . I also have her in gymnastics

Put 2 chairs next to each other and put a toy on one so he has to walk from one chair to the other. Slowly increase distance between chairs. Also encourage him to practice standing/walking on a bed - he may be more willing to practice on a soft surface

Give him some toys to hold, like a ball for each hand. Maybe he will feel more confident if he has a hold of something

Save your back and try a hula hoop! You and kiddo both hold on, walking together in the same direction

My son was the same but we got him a little grocery cart toy and he used that to build confidence and balance! It was light enough that he couldn’t put a lot of weight on it but it helped him so much! One day he just decided to walk on his own. I think all the push toys and holding hands and practice helped! Best of luck 🖤

Baby walkers

My son is officially walking at 15.5 months. I have no real special advice only try to be patient. One day it just clicked and now he doesn't stop moving 🙈

Keep taking his hands. Make it seem fun. Maybe show him friends of his walks too.
