@Tamzin thank you! Can you have an epidural there? I definitely want one this time 😂
Oh yeah you defo can, I did!
My niece and nephew were born in Prince Charles. Good experiences both times. My nephew was quite an emergency situation and they were great there. They are a maternity unit in an acute hospital so the usual options are available including c section if required. Child related but not maternity. I recently had to attend there after I was in a car accident with my baby in the car on Christmas Day and I absolutely cannot fault the paediatric department there. They are amazing. Full honesty, a few years ago their maternity department was put into special measures and there were some serious issues. Since this I think a lot of work has been done there. However, I live in Bristol but my waters went while I was with my mam in the valleys and she didn't want me going there
@Bethan thank you, that’s really helpful. X
I had both mine in Prince Charles honestly they were amazing I was in for a week after with both honestly they were amazing and so supportive especially when I was missing my first , this was March 2024 and March 2025 xx
Royal glam only has a midwife led birthing centre -Tirion. It is so beautiful like a spa. Big double beds, robes, slippers! But no medical facilities so if anything went wrong you’d have to be blue lighted to pch or pow.
I didn't know this about the Royal Glam as my sister was born there but obviously before things changed. Found this that may be helpful for you, has a lot of information. https://ctmuhb.nhs.wales/services/maternity-legacy/changes-to-maternity-services/
Had both my boys in Prince Charles and care was excellent. Was in with my first 5 days because he had to go SCBU but was out and on way home 5 hours after delivering my second. Felt well looked after both times x
I realise all the others whove posted a comment are positive but i have to put that I had mine at PCH in Jan... Not a good experience at all. I dont want to post it all here, but yeah no, i regret having my son there. :/
Hate to dampen the positives but my daughter was born in PCH the end of 2022 and my experience was not very good. The first midwife I had was awful but at handover my new midwife was much more friendly and comforting. I struggled for months to come to terms with my labour I would be awake all hours not sleeping overthinking it all. I have seen lots of positive stories about PCH though so maybe I just wasn’t lucky with the midwife at the beginning
I had my first in the royal glam and had a bad experience from the doctor but the midwifes were great during the labour stage. I had my 2nd in PCH and the care was much better there x
Didn't give birth but my son recieved care from them last week and the staff were kind and accommodating,
I was induced at Prince Charles hospital in December because the hospital in Bridgend was closed, and I thought the facilities and the staff were great, ended up being quite complicated so I was in for six days and was really looked after
