I sound horrible, but I want to keep my things nice. her son is 4. is very destructive, doesn't listen, and still pees his pants, but mom claims he's potty trained. the younger child isn't fully potty trained. they both get so filthy so fast when they come play. it's 200 gallons, so it's not like I can just dump it after. but too small for a pump or chlorine.
all of my kids can be told not to bounce on the sides. They're all potty trained, and they know not to get in and out without washing their feet off.
I love my friend, but she's super dismissive, and I know a conversation about her kids would make her upset. and I really don't think she'd put swim diapers on them.

I’m gonna say this loudly cause summer is coming! swim diapers don’t do anything for pee it is literally just for poo ! They are designed to hold poo only
so what am I supposed to do when they come over regularly and see it? they'll probably want to strip down to underwear and swim and I just don't want that but don't want to come off offensive
@Alexa🇮🇱 ugh. which it's one thing for treated pools but this just sits in the water and I'll be soaking in pee 🤢
and I know they'll be someone telling me "pee is sterile" idgaf. I'm grossed out by the thought alone

Get a big cover for it and cover it up while they're visiting. If they ask to use it, tell them they can't, it's covered up for a reason. Make up a reason if you feel the need. One year a neighborhood cat peed in my kid's pool. that was gross as fuck. You could tell them something fell in and died and you have to clean it out better.
Or you could let them use it on the condition they pay for a new one if her kids break it and contribute towards the water bill if they get the water too messy to use.

Kids will definitely pee in the pool. Your friends kids and possibly even yours. Even if they wore a swim diaper it wouldn't protect the pool from pee but it would protect it from poop getting in there.
As a kid my friends mom had us get into swimsuits. We either bought ours or we changed into our friends suits. We had to hose ourselves down before jumping in. The toys in the bucket next to the pool were the only ones allowed. If we were caught running or trying to dive she def scolded us and put us on timeout from the pool🤣 she also had her timer and when it went off it meant it was time to get out and use the bathroom, put sunscreen, or eat. I thought she was so strict as a kid but as an adult i realized she was just a mom who cared about her kids and her neighbors kids.
I guess my problem is when I say he doesn't listen.. I mean it. like this kid will jump straight in the pool with his clothes on even after saying no sort of thing. and mom is so dismissive/passive. like zero control

the Google machine says: Swimming pools often have rules against wearing clothing that isn't swimwear to maintain hygiene and water quality, and ensure safety. Regular clothes, especially those made of absorbent materials like cotton, can introduce contaminants like dirt, sweat, detergents, and bacteria into the water, potentially increasing the risk of waterborne illnesses and negatively impacting the pool's chemistry. Additionally, absorbent materials can become heavy and make swimming difficult, potentially increasing the risk of drowning or entrapment.

You set a firm boundary that the pool is off limits and when he doesn’t listen you physically remove him from the pool

Invite them out to a water park or the pool or beach on a hot day lol spend it elsewhere not at the house. Me and my bestie goes swimming all the time

Don’t make it about her kids. Make it about you. You prefer nobody in it but your own family 🤷♀️
It’s also a liability. If something happens she can sue you. I don’t trust anyone personally

I would have the conversation with your friend and see how she reacts . She can get her own pool , go to a public pool or even a splash pad .

that’s what chemicals are for, you can’t keep a body of water clean, without filtering it and putting in chemicals. if it’s 200 gallons you defiantly need to be putting something in it to treat the water!

Make clear pool rules. Put it in some group chat if u have more than one friend and then nobody should have a problem with thay
