Numbness/tingling of the arms

Hi ladies!

Just looking for some advice or if anyone has experienced similar issue. I had vag birth and lost a lot of blood. My iron level is still low. I also had to have spinal anesthesia after labor. But for weeks now I’ve been experiencing numbness of both arms and tingling sensation to the point where it wakes me up at night and I cannot hold anything for a while after.

GP did not advise much, waiting on a specialist advice, but midwife mentioned a nerve could be affected by the spinal anesthesia (I hope not).
I am freaking out! Anyone had anything similar and what did you do?

Thanks ladies! Xxx

Hi I experienced the same after my c section. I took neurobion (supplements for nerves) which really helped. However please do consult with your GP/ specialist before taking anything!

I had this in my legs. And what felt like restless legs for a couple of weeks. I started getting paranoid that I was imagining it or making it worse. My iron levels were low too and epidural so didn’t know which it was down to.
Mine got better over time and was t anything serious but I would get in touch with triage and go and get checked out. Ask to speak to anaesthetist again x

Thanks ladies! I appreciate it. I will definitely follow up and need to be better at taking iron supplements.
Hopefully I hear from GP soon.

Following as ive had the same for a long time after having a C-section back at the end of December. My arms get so heavy and numb im scared im going to drop my baby. But i have it now just as im typing this and holding my phone. My hand is getting heavy and the tips of my fingers are starting to tingle X

I got carpel tunnel just before I had my little girl which caused fingers in both my hands to be numb and the numbness travelled up my arms at night. Might not be just from the spinal anaesthetic. Could be just all the swelling etc from pregnancy/birth. I had a nerve conduction test to officially diagnose. Hope you’re okay!

try eating more dark green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, chard. ideally raw, maybe in a smoothie. Greens contain lots of B vitamins and numbness can be a sign of a b-vitamin deficiency

oh no! But I know the feeling - night feed is awful for me as I genuinely feel I will drop him. Have you tried anything to ease it?

Avatar

where did you have that test done? That is good idea, will have to look into that thank you!

@Tamara i honestly dont know what to try to ease it. I dont even known what it is or why. And i dont even get out of bed for any potential night feeds. We co sleep and shes breast fed so i dont need to move 😂😂. Im in the uk too and getting a doctors appointment is harder than winning the euro lotto lol. What did your gp say to you? X

I also have numbing currently on my hands from the vibration of holding the breast pump flange :( my grasp has weaken and there’s pins and needles when sleeping. I asked the GP about it and she ordered a blood test. I had low iron because i lost alot of blood during my CS. She advised to increase iron on my diet and do hand exercises. Also going to refer me to physio. She said it’ll also go away over time.🤔

Vitamin b deficiencies like vit b12

I don’t have an advice as I don’t know what to do myself. But these are all good suggestions. I need to increase iron myself and would love to go back to the gym but cannot yet as my pelvic floor is still weak.

Hi , no it didn’t. I had the test done and have carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. Wearing wrist support and waiting to see what treatment is available. What feeling do you have?

Good news . Hopefully they suggest sth similar for me.
