Could labour be near?

I had a sweep on Wednesday at 38+1, I was around 2cm dilated and she managed to give a good few sweeping motions and tickled babies head. I bled a little afterwards, just pinkish/brownish blood also had a bloody show with cramps on and off afterwards but nothing progressed more. This morning when I woke I lost a large mucus plug, again I know this doesn't mean labour is coming. My lower back is aching a fair bit today, and I have had a couple lower abdominal cramps, far apart, only lasting a second or all two. I've had a few friends predict he will make an appearance today or over the weekend. I just don't know. Does it sound like my body is progressing in right direction?

Sounds like the right direction but I had the same after I had my sweep on Friday last week and he’s still not here

My first was 8 days late, second was 3 days late. So I'm hoping this one will be similar or earlier, I'm due on 27th, but I will be booked for an induction around the 31st. I have another sweep booked for Monday so will see if any progress with more dilation etc if nothing happens before then that is. It's true what they say, babies come when they are ready. The sweeps never worked with my first, didn't have any with second. Just willing to try anything this time so I can labour naturally and hopefully avoid the induction process. He has been head down since 28 weeks, and the pressure has been intense the past week. I guess it will happen when it happens, just wish it was a little more predictable 😅🫠
