I have CBeebies on in background most of the morning

Does this make me a bad Mum? A few of the other Mums from our NCT class have banned screens entirely. My girl isn't glued to it, it's more in the background. The only one she generally reacts to and gets excited about is Mr Tumble. I'm not sure if I should just turn it off though - is it damaging her being on? I grew up with Sesame Street, Rosie & Jim, Tots TV etc and it hasn't held me back! Is it really all that damaging? I feel like there is so much pressure on this topic.

I don't think so at all. My little ones have learnt alot from it and play too!

Tv for her is on all day pretty much but that’s when we’re home! Often we’re out and about. But I see no issue with enjoyable background noise . like your little one she’s not glued to it and tbh if there was something I wanted to watch on she probably wouldn’t care . She learns from it!

my tv is on in the background all day too and my girl loves mr tumble and copies many of his signs!

My little one adores Mr Tumble & it’s educational so I’m happy for her to watch it. I also put CBeebies on in the mornings but she doesn’t take much notice other than dancing to the theme tunes of the shows. I think TV is a very normal thing & isn’t doing any damage. I personally think screen time is only an issue when it’s on phones and tablets as they can become addictive, whereas TV is just a thing inside the house!

We have the TV on all day at home. It gets turned off for times of eating. The radio goes on aswell throughout the day so I can get a break from CBeebies 🤣🤣

I also have a 3 yr old and nov 23 baby and out tv is on childrens tv all day ranging from cbeebies to short films like Gruffalo etc but 90% of the time they arent even watching it they just play. Sometimes i put youtube on for nursery rhymes and then they dance. I dont think its an issue if they arent glued to it or sat with a tablet all day x

This makes me feel loads better ❤️❤️ thanks for sharing everyone xx

I honestly think it depends on the child and your own opinions. My eldest (now 4) he has always been one to watch the tv. He goes into a zone when cartoons are on and the only way to get his attention is to pause or turn it off. My Nov girl is the opposite and will watch a bit but then get bored and start playing. I would have no problem having it on in the background for my Nov girl but I have to have no screen time for my son xx

My tv is always on in the background, sometimes my little one will pass me the remote to put the tv on and then I list a couple of his shows until he gets excited at the sound of one and put that on then he watches it whilst he eats breakfast and goes about his day
