gestational diabetes test

Does anyone know if it’s possible to do the test at home in the UK? I have an appointment on Wednesday at 8am and I understand they like to get it done early but I’m not allowed to change my appointment to 9-9:30am so I can get my boy to school. Breakfast club starts at 7:30 and by the time i get up to the hospital I’ll be late for my appointment. I have no family that could take him into school for me and my partner is at work and is unsure if he’ll be able to get day off. Any help/advice please 🙏

They need to take your blood before drinking the solution and after, I don’t think it would be possible at home. Can you move it to a bit later time so you can do the school run?

they won’t let me change the time

They need to be a bit more accommodating cause you can just say the same, oh well I can’t make 8am. Or you can just try turning up after your school run and see what happens

she said it’s because they don’t like leaving you to long without food which I totally understand but jsut annoying when your trying to sort your other children out 😭 she said they sometimes offer weekend appointments but I’d have to get my bloods done by a GP, so I don’t fully understand how the weekend appointments will work if they can’t take the bloods at the hospital during that appointment 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can do home testing but means doing bloods after every meal for like 1 week

I got sent a home testing kit which was super simple and done in 2 hours on a day of my choice - I'm not sure they've rolled it out everywhere but well worth asking!

I got sent a kit to do at home & you do 2 finger prick tests for the bloods. You don’t have to send the kit back either, it was all really tech savvy & you scan your blood results onto an app. It was called Digostics GTT.

I did a home test yesterday and it was so easy. I didn’t ask they just told me that’s how they do them now in my area. It was so simple they use a small device that records your sample before and after the drink. Just a pin prick for a blood sample, drink the drink, wait two hours and another pin prick for a sample. Then you download an app that connects to the device and records your results and sends them off. All get my results in a few days. If you need any details just ask me xx

can I have more details please xx

Yes of course. Here’s a link to the company http://my-gtt.co/care where you can find lots of info. My midwife didn’t even tell me she was referring me for a test I just got a text from this company. It was sent a week before the test date by Royal Mail. With my first I was borderline so had to have a test every week at the hospital. I feel you pain because I just couldn’t do it with the school run now xx

Anxiety with the bump.

I’m 36 weeks pregnant and I’ve suddenly developed a massive anxiety around anyone standing behind me. My husband is annoying me so much because even though I’ve told him how it makes me feel, he’s continued doing stuff in our kitchen (that is tiny anyway) and sliding past me to grab things. I know the baby is safe even if I were to bump the bump a little but even the thought of it is still making extremely anxious. How do I cope with this feeling and is anyone else going through the same sort of thing?

Please be nice as I have anxiety…

So I’m 20 weeks pregnant and I went to the hospital for light bleeding when I wipe ( not ever time though).. the doctor told me it was due to sex and that my cervix was irritated has anyone else experienced this? And or know way to just calm my anxiety from it

Breathless and feeling like I need to be sitting constantly!

Has anyone else been feeling this way as they're getting closer to their due date?

I attempted to change our bedding this evening and had to call my husband for back up as I literally felt like my lungs were going to explode just trying to reach over to put the sheet on.

I'm huffing and puffing just getting my toddler into his pjs, and I was sat down! Like what is going on 😮‍💨🥲

Everything has been check ie bloods etc so I think it's just general pregnancy as I'm now 38 weeks. My bump feels like it weighs about 100lbs 😭
