Circumscision

Sorry I don’t have the answer to your question, I hope you get an answer. When my boy comes we will be circumcising him as well. The deciding factor to have the Vitamin K shot is to get is incase the circumcision makes him bleed a lot but it’s still up in the air… my question is did you get the vitamin k shot for your son?

hey yes we got the vit k injection at birth and had really minimal bleeding with the circumscision x

We started applying the Vaseline straightaway! It also helped cushion his penis against the diaper so it doesn’t stick to it . Ours fell off like day 7. I wouldn’t worry much. But I believe it should be showing signs of falling off already? Before it fully detaches. Definitely use lots of Vaseline.

what signs? It does look like it’s loosening / moving forward but it’s still pretty on there.. I will start the Vaseline! Did it hurt your baby when it started coming off?

Yeah loosening signs . And the string should have started cutting through and you may be smelling abit of odour from the excess skin beyond the string as it dies and falls off too. I’m assuming this is the plastibell ring method where a string is tied really tightly around the ring ? Tbh it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting . He didn’t cry more than usual and I’m really careful not to rush or touch whenever I clean/change him. When it fell off the tip was red as expected but it started to darken as time went by. We circumcised when he was day 8, I think that helped as he was still pretty new and not feeling as much pain . Used Vaseline until it completely healed . Also when we did ours , they have a 7 days to 2 weeks time frame. So yours might just be taking abit longer. But if you’re worried, give them a call again

as someone who is generally against the vite K shot… if you plan to circumcise before 8 days ( when the baby can process vitamin k and clot) then you absolutely should give your child the vite k shot.
