So this is my struggle my daughter is 11 1/2 months old. Her pediatrician is telling me to start her on whole milk but she has been on enfamil nutramigen formula because she is lactose. I am scared for tummy issues what should I do and what’s the weaning process as I am a first time mom I’m very conflicted.

What about lactose free milk? We do that in my house

No idea why your doctor would tell you to put your intolerant/allergic child onto whole milk, that’s crazy. I’d go for a milk alternative like oat or something similar!

reminder that only cows need cows milk. you can absolutely use a substitute.

They want to see if she grew out of being lactose she stated that some babies do and if she has issues to switch her to a lactose milk!

Which one do you use?

lactaid most of the time but it doesn't really matter that much as long as it is lactose free. She started having milk when I mix it with her oats for her breakfast and it's great

that’s either a 6 or 12 step process in England requiring you to work up to it really slowly not just introducing whole milk. Maybe worth trying something like that as if you just give whole milk after being dairy free it’s almost guaranteed to cause a reaction!

I think I may stick with my gut and put her on the lactose milk instead of whole milk!

yeah that’s what I’d do! Oat milk is my go to, I prefer it now to cows milk and will be on it permanently 😂 I love it haha!

yes she is on that now, we are trying to transition her to regular milk

I put it all in the post above

@Madeline I'm reading that kids unsweetened original Ripple milk is just as nutritious as whole milk
