CMPA / Reflux Advice

My daughter is three weeks old, I have seen two doctors due to her having a large swollen tummy (often hard). I was breastfeeding her and the first doctor recommended trying her on nurtamigen 1 formula, day four today and no difference. Tummy still very big and she is always unsettled after her feeds, arches her back, clenches her fists and cries. She does burp after every feed and has regular bowel movements. I’m at a loss to whether she does have allergy or is just so bloated and gassy. How long should I give for the milk to work? I have tried Dentiox and Infacol it’s not really made any difference and also biycle legs, tummy time and tummy massage again no improvement. She has very unsettled sleep too, constantly kicking her legs and grunting until she wakes again for a feed. I’m really at a loss, it’s so sad seeing her so uncomfortable.

My LO had the exact same, he was on a dairy free formula and I saw a small improvement but not enough so went back to the Dr and they ended up prescribing omeprazole and now I got a different baby!

@Alice did you continue with the diary free formula or go back to normal? X

Also they do say to try the milk for up to 4 weeks before the next step.. it’s so long when they are in constant pain 😢

I would be reluctant to stop breastfeeding when there’s so many benefits. I’d start by monitoring what you’re eating and what her symptoms are, to see if there’s a trend. I had to cut dairy, soy and eggs (after a lot of monitoring and one at a time) and my boy was so much more settled (and his eczema cleared)

I was going to say I’m surprised they said to go to formula and not change your diet if you was breastfeeding. We are still on the dairy free formula x
