@Makenna yeah he doesn’t. I read last night that they can’t associate the words with meaning until they are about 1. I get called dada a lot lol
My daughter can say “ball”, “mama”, “dada, “bye bye”, and has once repeated my husband trying to say Kitty. And while she does not always use them 100% correctly in context, there is a lot of times she does. So I fully believe she is starting to correctly associate those things
@Destiney awww that is so cute
I believe at this age it’s all still just babbling no matter how much we convince ourselves it’s not lol . I think they really start talking around 1 .
@Adia okay, you can believe that. I do not 🤷🏻♀️
when my baby is being held by somebody else and wants to eat, she will say mama, but other than that, it's just random babbling. I pointed at myself and said mama every day and pointed at her and said her name at the same time for the last couple months. She responds to her name as well.
@Destiney my daughter is very much saying mama, Dada, and nana and she has been saying them for the right person so I very much believe she knows what's she's talking about with those. But other things not so much.
she obviously doesn't know what mama means, she only says it while reaching for me when someone else has her and she's hungry.
@Adia yes that’s why I said “not you being delusional” because I’ve seen someone on here saying their child telling them “mama I love you” and all I heard was mama and then babbling.
@Adia it really depends on the baby. i worked with infants in childcare and many picked up on words before 1. plenty of them didn't say anything until after 1, some didn't even babble.
I’m convinced that if my daughter knew better how to use her mouth muscles and movements, her babbling would sound like speaking. People don’t believe me but they don’t have to.
@Destiney lol ok?? my comment wasn’t directed towards you at all
Mostly babbles but she’ll say mama and baba. Unsure if she understands it yet though. When I got home today she said mama and started reaching for me so maybe.
Mine says mama occasionally, but it’s more of a babble or a call for attention. I think she knows I like when she says it and that I encourage it, but I’m not sure she 100% understands what it means.

Yes my daughter says mama, dada, cat and I love u.
Ya that was me. My daughter says I love u and she’s not your daughter so ya u wouldn’t understand her. But she has said it multiple times. She’s extremely advanced for her age. She has been high fiven since 4 months old.
@Vanessa “I love you”?! Danggg ok Einstein baby! Haha
@Francy she says in this video mama I love u I love u. She says this a lot. I need to take more videos since a lot of people don’t believe me. I tell her “I love u” so much she picked it up
@Vanessa oh no, I believe you. I just think it’s incredible and awesome! That’s gotta be adorable hearing it from such small voice :)
@Francy thanks it is. Yes she’s extremely advanced for her age. She has been able to high five since 4 months old. I was talking about op since she took a dig at me in a comment saying she didn’t hear it. Also her whole post is a dig. I guess she’s jelly.
@Vanessa I’m sorry but that video u showed I’ve only heard mama and then she started babbling after. But to each their own I guess
@Vanessa and I’m not jelly lmao. Why would I be jelly? I’m just saying it as it is. I even asked a friend to make sure I’m not the only one who just heard one thing. Nobody is saying anything bad about ur baby, I’m just saying I didn’t hear what u said she said.
@Vanessa you need to calm tf down, she didn’t dig at you at all nor why would you assume she’s “jelly”. All she said is she didn’t hear it. Seems a lil defensive to me 🤷🏻♀️ And if it takes being her mother to understand it thennnnn maybe you’re just hearing it 🤷🏻♀️ cause hey according to some other people commenting, they don’t even understand what they’re saying till about 1 year so hell a whole sentence before one year 😮💨😮💨
@Destiney her whole post is about me. And you’re telling me to calm tf down?! Girl bye
If you’re not jelly then why make a whole post about it? 🤔
@Vanessa girl you’re definitely delusional. I mentioned ur video in the comment as an example. This post was not for u.
@Vanessa or maybe her seeing your post led her to true curiousity about if babies are talking yet ? Because you were an EXAMPLE not the main topic. She didn’t say “so I saw Vanessa’s video and she’s full of it? Anyone else think so?” No she asked if babies were talking yet more than a babble. And it’s funny asf how defensive you are and the fact you completely ignored everything else I said 😂😂🫣 just stop 😂
My daughter can say mum and she tries to say hi(heavy on the H very little on the I). She also got really excited and tried to repeat when somebody said fu*k and I know she tried to repeat it because everybody looked at me like oh my God I’m so sorry😆 I only count words when other people hear them because people like to think us moms are crazy.
I also see a lot of people that they don’t associate words with meaning, but my daughter is also eight months and when I say come here, she comes to me She also understands when I say all done, and it was very close to saying it once when I was feeding her to confirm that she was finished.

@Alicia my girl is the same with the “hi” very heavy on the H then it just trails off 😂
Yup, kinda. when my baby wants me while my bf is holding him he says mama and looks right at me and only does it when he wants me
My son will say dada and will repeat it after we say it, but I’m not sure if he understands what it means yet.
