Has anyone booked their little one in for an eye test due to eye concerns? My little girl has a very lazy eye and has done since about 6 weeks old the GP said they can refer but she probably won’t be seen before aged 3 but it’s something that concerns me quiet a lot and would like it to be seen too swiftly.

Yes both my boys have had eye tests early. First was at 3 and my youngest at 2. It’s slightly more difficult for them if they can’t recognise shapes/pictures or unable to say what things are so would depend on age

My little boy was referred through the health visitor Jan and was seen at the start of May but I was contacted around end of feb March they just didn’t have appointments at any centre till may x

she 2 1/2 but she does recognise shapes, colours, pictures etc x

we took both my boys to specsavers and they were fab. Any issues and they will do the referrals as well

My little boy got referred probably a year before he finally got seen by the eye doctor about 1-2 months ago (also 2.5). They did do a lot of tests with him I don't think he could've done earlier. He's now referred for another check with a specialist but not heard anything yet. To be fair it's almost certainly not urgent. But your son should definitely be fine to be checked now

I took my 6 month old to specsavers a few years ago & they were great, referred us straight to the hospital and had an appt within a few weeks
Ended up being no problems but couldn’t fault them at all x
