Transfers abroad - thought I'd share in case useful for anyone!
We have just got back from our holiday in Portugal with friends. We paid for private transfers to ensure our little ones (5months and 11 months) were in safe car seats for the 1 hr transfers. We called before heading out to let them know the size of the children etc and the car seats were fine.
We travelled back today, when the transfer arrived to pick us up, they provided ONE car seat for a baby, and expected an 11 month old to sit on a booster (picture attached!!). When we said absolutely not, they then suggested we have them on our laps (defeating the entire point of why we paid for private transfers!)
Anyway, we stuck to our guns and got another car seat sent to us, but lots of added stress around being late for our flight etc. So just if anyone is planning to do the same, don't assume things are fine just because of a successful outbound journey! Ring them before the return too!

It’s not recommended to hire car seats abroad, as you never know the condition of them or what seat you are going to get. It’s always safer to take your own seats with you x
@Jade they were provided by a taxi company. As I said on the outbound, we couldn't fault them, perfect type seat for both children, my point was just to check with the company again for return journey. Obviously I don't know the condition of them in advance, but my issue with taken our own is I've seen how baggage handlers throw them around... how is that any safer than using a car seat after a crash?
