Height 36 inches

Hi. My 19-month old is 36 inches. More like 36.5. Whenever we go to her office doctor always seems concerned about his height but does not really say anything. He is in 100th height percentile. Any other very tall boys out there?

Not a boy, but my daughter has always been in 99 percentile. Shes in fourth grade now and is a foot taller than everyone in her class. It just is what it is lol I’d say the only sad part as a parent is people think she’s so much older and expect her to act older. That makes me feel bad. But she loves her height!

Thank you for the reply. Are you or your husband also very tall?

I’m 5’5, my husband is 6’2. So nothing too crazy haha

My son is 20 months and is also in the 100th percentile for height! He's in the 88th percentile for weight so the doctor hasn't expressed any concern, they said he was healthy.

Can you expand more on how he is expressing concern but not saying anything? My son was 36” a month ago and is 100th percentile for height. 90 something for weight and head circumference. My husband and I are not Tall tall either. I’m 5’ 6.5” and he’s 5’10”. Is your son’s head circumference and weight keeping up with his height? Brain growth relies on calories and may be cause for worry if he’s not growing in that aspect…

@Amanda I think every boy more than 34 inches at this age is already 100th percentile. How tall is your son?

@Becky she did not measure head circumferece. My son is around 80th percentile for weight but I am not sure about head circumference. She has not been measuring it for a long time. She said something like "he's too tall for his age" with a concerned face but nothing more than that. She keeps repeating it every other visit. My son looks much slimmer and taller than other kids of his age. His head also looks smaller but it looks proportional to his body.

That’s what it seems like to me too! My son is 36.5 inches tall. I spoke to another mom in person who’s son was just a little shorter than mine and both her and her husband were not tall (I’m 5’2 myself and my ex husband is around 5’9). Personally, I grew very fast as a child and stopped growing around fifth grade. There was the question of a pituitary issue but I grew out of it I guess 🤷🏽‍♀️ im not too sure what the issue was my mom doesn’t remember much either. The other mom I spoke to mentioned she grew the same way. We were both Hispanic so I’m not sure if maybe it’s a genetic/cultural connection but it’s possible it’s just a growth pattern.

My son is 98th percentile both for height and weight. Not sure about head, but he looks completely proportionate so I guess it's also at least above 90. No one was ever concerned because my husband and I are both tall. They'd see us, then measure him, and be like "makes sense" 🤣

all of you with 36” sons while i have my 36” daughter!! 🤣 she’s in the 89th percentile for weight. her dad is 6’4 and i’m 5’5. doc has never said anything about it and is always glad to say she’s growing well. you have nothing to worry about, your doc is probably just astonished at how tall he is. i know it freaks people out when i say my daughter isn’t even two yet. as long as he’s meeting his milestones and doesn’t seem to be in pain, you’re good!

@Jacky I don't get the impression how tall my son really is until he stands next to other kids. He's taller than most kids we know who are up to 10 months older than him 😳
