Driving after c section

Mums who have had a c section - did you just start driving again when you hit 6 weeks or did you wait till you had your doctor check up?

I was 6 weeks yesterday and drove for the first time today. My check up isn't for another 2 weeks

I was told with my first that you don't need to wait for the doctor to clear you as its down to you being comfortable doing an emergency stop. I checked with my insurance company and they confirmed it was to do with an emergency stop x

My midwife’s told me you don’t have to be cleared from the doctor it’s just when you feel comfortable enough and are able to do an emergency stop x

I took my son in his car seat driving at 2 weeks pp but it was too soon, I popped stitches and needed antibiotics

I started driving at about 4.5 weeks I think. It was just when I felt comfortable to do it x

I’m 6weeks today and I have driven probably 3 times prior but only to the corner shop (5mins each way) if I’m going to be doing longer drives I will probably install the pregnancy seatbelt I used last time as it secured the belt away from your belly. Probably waiting till my checked up which isn’t till next week

I started driving 3 weeks pp as i felt comfortable as was healing well x

Thank you everyone! I’m six weeks Thursday so think I’ll wait till then and start doing small drives first!

I drove myself home from the hospital. The doctor said if I was able to it’s fine

I’ve been wondering about this too I’m almost 5 weeks pp and thinking about going small drives as I feel comfortable and don’t have any more pains. But think I’ll leave it till the end of the week x
