Constipation/Colic

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice I have a 5 week old who is really struggling to poo. I’ve spoke to my HV they told me it’s normal and all apart of his digestion progressing and they are concerned as the poos are still soft when he does manage to have one. We are combi feeding, and other than two bottles of formula on a night and the rare couple bottles his grandparents will give him when they take him for a few hours, he is mostly breastfed. I can’t put him down and he’s crying way more than what I would consider normal for him. And I know he’s struggling because when he’s straining it’ll turn into crying or a lot of flapping and kicking which is making him wake up and then gets over tired. I’m just looking for any tips to make him more comfortable. We do the basics, tummy rubbing, warm baths, bicycle kicks and we switched to SMA comfort formula but he doesn’t seem to like it as he never finishes the bottle which for him is super weird he’s got a very healthy appetite 😂 is there anything else I can do to help him or at the very least make it more comfortable for when he is lying down?

There is this homeopathic medicine called Colic-Calm and I promise u it works wonder. Idk where u are located but I can find it at Walmart or walgreens

Also*** if it's gas there is these things called Windi the gas passer and it's amazing too!

We’re in the UK so I’m not sure if we have it here but I’ll definitely have a look online for it. Thank you!

We had this and used the frida baby windi, it was great and is on Amazon if you have prime! When we do use bottles we take breaks in the feed and rub LO tummy too which has helped a bit also

Try a baby colic / gas torso massage 3x a day. It’s magic!!!

My little girl had this last week - i took her to the walk in centre and they gave her a suppository had no problems since 🤞🏻x

I’ve seen a few people suggest probiotics helped heaps so I’m trying that but I have the same problem with my 9week old still

My baby is also struggling with this and told it’s normal too! It’s heartbreaking to see them in such pain!

Thank you everyone 🖤

Thank you to everyone who recommended the Frida windi he got rid of a ton of gas and has finally popped!!! Got a much happier little dude now 😭🖤🖤

We had the same problem and we use Infacol (every feed), it works pretty well and now we’ve got a happy lil guy x
