My baby boy was born in the 9th centile for weight and is still tracking against that at 9 weeks old. Everyone always comments on how small/tiny he is and it's making me really anxious he's not thriving enough. Is/has anyone else been in the sane boat? Did they grow up & develop ok?

my baby was born on 97th, followed 25th when regained birth weight which they said was normal since he was a couple weeks early, but is now on 9th… he is 13 weeks old, drinks 30-34oz a day!!!! he is hitting all his milestones and a very happy content boy. health visitor said some babies are simply just small xxx

We're exactly the same, 9th centile and we get all the comments 🙄 I've had all the anxious thoughts and worries too but health visitor isn't concerned, she's just small that's all.
Try not to worry (I know that's not easy) if little one is hitting all other milestones then don't stress yourself xx

Ni sooner had I posted this reply and an old lady stopped to tell me how tiny Matilda is 🙄 well aware thank you!

We're in a similar situation. LO was born on 9th centile, then dropped to 0.4th centile, now steadily tracking against 2nd centile. He is 17 weeks. We've had a few comments, but the infant feeding team said that he won't be a big baby as me and partner aren't very big. As long as he is happy, having wet nappies, and gaining weight, she wasn't concerned. Nor was the doctor when we saw him x

My little one was born on the 9th centile and dropped to the 0.4th at one point as a newborn due to supply issues (had to start supplementing with formula). Steadily increased his weight and sat on the 9th centile for a few months and then the 25th for a while. He had a big growth spurt recently and has now jumped from the 25th to between the 75th and 91st at 9 months old, so has gone from the teeniest baby to being absolutely huge 🤭. I'm only 5'2 so it made sense for him to be a smaller baby, but didn't stop me from worrying about his size.
Thanks for replying everyone, that's really reassuring!! Will I ever stop worrying 🫠😅

As long as your baby follows their percentile it is no issue at all that it’s a smaller percentile!! The more they grow and have more milk etc they will thrive! By the time kids are 1/2 you can’t even tell who was a big baby and who wasn’t!
My first baby dropped but because she was born 99th and dropped to 91st it’s not an issue. My current baby was born at like 107th or something daft (11lb 4oz) and will most likely drop also. I get comments now saying “she doesn’t look that big”, just think people drop a comment at any size your baby is x

Mine was born in the 9th centile, dropped below the charts for a bit, then hung out at 0.25 centile for a while before slowly chugging his way back up to 25th centile, where he is now at 8 months. Your baby is just small! It sounds like he's doing great.

My baby was absolutely tiny and was such a slow grower until he got to about 6months and since then he’s been well above average in size! Very strange!! He’s only 3 but definitely looks over 5 at least 🩵

Mine was born on the 7th centile but had IUGR so was basically being starved in the womb for a few weeks before he was induced. At the 6/8 week docs appt he was on the 25th centile and has pretty much stayed there so I think he just caught up to what he should have been. I wouldn't worry unless the docs/ hv's tell you too. People and babies come in different sizes some will be big some will be small 😊

I would follow the professionals opinion if they’re happy with the growth. I get comments of tiny baby and my lo is in 25th I think sometimes its just people referring to the tiny human rather than tiny baby 😆

Same boat!
My 9w old LD is also on the 9th percentile (25th for height) and constantly gets comments about how tiny she is.
We had a period where she was not gaining enough weight (basically stagnated for 2 weeks between week 4 and 6 due to reflux) but we have a change of diet / formula and she is slowly catching up.
We hope to get her to 25th but as long as she is healthy and tracking, it should be fine
