Please no judgement for this post! I realise it seems so unimportant but admittedly I feel more “me” with a bit of make up on and some fake tan, anything for a little boost during pregnancy! I have a planned c-section early next week and I’m sure I’ve read that you can’t wear make up/nail varnish etc. Would a little bit of make up harm or would I be instructed to remove it? Just talking a little bit of mascara and minimal foundation for some coverage (I am very self conscious). And would it be ridiculous to treat myself to some fake tan over the weekend?
I realise all of this sounds quite pathetic to be honest. But this is a lovely, supportive group so hoping someone can be of help! Anything to make us feel a little bit better and “normal” in what is a rollercoaster ride, right? ☺️💕

I get why they say no nail varnish, but hadn't heard about the makeup.
I know it's different, but I ended up having an emergency c section, so my nails were done, I had earings in and would had makeup if it hadn't already melted off in the birthing pool prior 🤣
I'd say you'd be fine. If it's really a problem they'll tell you. But at least if they don't, you'll feel more like yourself 🩷 xx

I also had a planned c section for my second baby and I wore mascara, you do get there quite early and wait around for hours so you can always double check with them when you get there about the foundation ☺️

Makeup and fake tan is absolutely fine! Nail varnish is subject to different hospital rules, I had biab on during mine so if you have a pre-op appointment I’d ask then, in most cases it’s absolutely fine xx

I wore make up for my c-section 6 weeks ago 😊 they didn’t say anything about it.xx

Don't stress about feeling silly, I was also a little bit self conscious of looking like an absolute potato for photos at the birth 😅 you definitely just need to make yourself feel as comfortable as you're able to.
I was instructed no fake tan, nails or makeup. I guess maybe it just varies from hospital to hospital. I still wore some mascara and did my eyebrows. I had clear gel nails too. x

I had make up and nails done for my section 🤷🏼♀️ had short pink nails, anything long and bright might’ve been an issue but nobody said anything to me x

I also had biab on and asked them and they were fine with it being on ☺️ I’d ask when at preop!

I had a spray tan, lash extensions and new nails for my C section ( although it wasn’t a planned section) and being postpartum with a abit of a tan 100% made me feel better in myself, it’s not pathetic if it makes you feel better💕xx

I had my eyebrows done (wax and tint) a couple days before my planned c section so they were looking their best

When I went in for mine I was told not to wear makeup but was allowed to put some on afterwards to make me feel better. If you’re unsure ask at your pre op

My nails were done and I did have natural looking make up. I had a beautiful post C-section picture with my baby.

Maybe it’s a uk vs USA thing but my nails were done in both my c sections. My hair was covered with a medical cap but I don’t think make up would be an issue (I didn’t wear any so don’t know for sure)

I had a planned section, I had nails on and a spray tan 😂 all was fine! The day before when I went to my check in appointment the midwife said false nails are normally okay, they like to be able to see your nail bed if there are any issues as the colour of your nail bed will change but she said so many people have false nails and biab now there are other ways to check. I didn’t have any makeup on but probably would have if I didnt have a tan 😂 All the best x

I was told no make up as they want to see any signs of you becoming unwell quickly without being masked by make up. But I did tan my legs tho and made sure my brows were freshly done and eyelash tint. They said 100% not to nails too as they can't read your vitals as well.

I had my nails done for my planned c section and nothing was said! As it was biab they just put some of the monitoring equipment on my toes instead of fingers.
I also had my eyebrows and a lash lift a few days before, so didn’t have make up but those helped me feel more put together in the post partum period!

Girl! I wore it all! Make up and nail polish! You’ll be fine. They didn’t say anything else all I was told was no lotion or deodorant or perfume. Other than that they didn’t care.

Definitely had my nails done something neutral I think. Nobody asked me about it.
