I don’t know if this is a silly question but I’ve noticed over the last couple of weeks that my baby (9months) is different with me to how he is with other people. He plays up a lot more with me I’ve noticed for example, difficult to get dressed, messes around when I’m trying to feed him but when my mum or partner does these things he seems to be so much easier. I just feel like I’m doing it wrong somehow or he prefers being with them sometimes or possibly bored of me because he’s with me 95% of the time. I make it fun and try not to show my frustration but honestly sometimes it’s just draining. I know people say that kids act up more for their main caregiver but I didn’t know it started this early is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Xx

My baby is like this, we are breastfeeding so I think that plays into it- she can be quite happy until I walk in the room and then she’s crying for milk. But I do think that they already play up more for the main caregiver in general.

Babies are able to show their bigger emotions around those that they feel safest with I.e mum. My son is a terror with me compared to how he is with his dad, I take it as a compliment haha x

My daughter is the same with me. It is so frustrating and hard not to take personally. It also becomes a vicious cycle when they act up when they are with you (95% of the time) and then as a result you feel drained and on edge and they pick up on it and both your emotions rub off on eachother.
But at the same time, I do take it as a good sign that she feels safe expressing her feelings with me and trusts me to meet her needs. It sucks that it means us mums have to bare the brunt of the emotional load, but it's also a sign we are their safe space.
If your baby was hesitant to show emotions like sadness and frustration around you, then I'd be more concerned.
