Solo mums by choice

Just reaching out to see if there are any other solo mums by choice in this group? It would be nice to get to know people on a similar journey :)

@Beata @Sara Ah this is so lovely to know! 🙂 I hope you're both doing well and your pregnancies are great so far.
Where abouts are you both based? I am near Canterbury in Kent 😁xx

Hi:) I'm in Croydon south London. Quite a distance from Kent, must be lovely to live outside a busy city

Avatar

@Beata It has its pros and cons, I live in a village just outside of Canterbury and it's so quiet. It's beautiful and relaxing, but there's not much to do in a social sense. I've been to Croydon before, had great nights out there (many years ago😅). Feel free to message if you ever fancy a chat, or need to vent some pregnancy/solo mum worries. It's nice to talk to people you can relate to xx

first trimester was AWFUL ! Now I’m doing better…! Hope your experience was a bit better!xx

Avatar

@Laura Oh no I feel you on that one! My first trimester was really bad too...especially at 7-10weeks, I couldn't even keep water down. I started to feel better at 15/16weeks...BUT I am 24+3 now and I'm starting to feel nausea from the smell of fresh washing again ..and being out in public..People smell really strong too😅I'm hoping it's just a random week and it all doesn't come back to me for the rest of the pregnancy🤞🤞xx

Avatar

oh nooooooo 😭😭😭 I really hope it’s just a bad week!!! Tbh they gave me pills for the vomiting and hadn’t had any since then!! Maybe check with your midwife??xx

Avatar

@Laura Thank you, keeping my fingers crossed 😅 Ah that's a good idea, thank you for the suggestion! Do you mind if I ask which ones you were given? No worries if you don't want to answer xx

Avatar

first they gave me cyclizine but it didn’t quite work, I also developed depression so they prescribed me an antidepressant that’s also for the vomiting and since then I got much better, it’s called mirtazapine

Avatar

@Laura no way! That's such a coincidence, I am on Mirtazapine!...I unfortunately miscarried last year and have been taking that medication ever since for CPTSD...I've gained about 3Stone in a year on it though😅but that might make sense as I've halved my dose this last week...maybe that's why I'm feeling so nauseous. I'm so glad you're finding the medication helpful, it's certainly helped me a lot! Xx

Avatar

oh woww! I haven’t noticed any size effects just made me drowsy and sleepy at the beginning! Hope your nausea gets better 🫶🏼🙏🏼

Avatar

Mirtazapine tend to help sleep, especially in lower doses. I had constant feeling of nausea in the first trimester but no vomitting. Now I have those days when I eat sth in the morning and my stomach starts to contract just after 10 minutes and it all goes dowm the drain ;) but no nausea before or after. Funny enough I can eat right after as if nothing has happened
