Confused about membrane sweep

I am currently 38 weeks pregnant with my second baby. Last baby was overdue because of irregularities in contraction. I did my membrane sweep after he was overdue for 3 days. And it wasn't very helpful and nothing much happened and they had to induce the labour. So I was wondering without any medical conditions do they do sweep after 38 weeks or do I need to wait. Any advice is most appreciated.

It depends on your hospital, my midwife said they offer it from 39 weeks where I live but for some it’s from 38 weeks I believe. It’s offered to everyone so you can absolutely have one if you want, I’d make sure to read about it first though as there are still risks associated with it

My midwife has offered 39 weeks at the earliest

My trust only offers from 40 weeks

Think it depends on your hospital iv been signed of to have one at 38 weeks

My trust offer them from 40 weeks, they can do them from 38 weeks but it needs to be signed off by a consultant for a medical reason. I’m getting one at 38+2 next week because of my own heart condition and previous biopsies taken from my cervix so they don’t want me to get to 40 weeks x

It is only effective if your body is already in the early stages of labour. If your cervix isn't favourable (back, hard and closed) it's unlikely to do anything. If your cervix is favourable (soft, thin, forward and open) then it might jiggle things on a bit but ultimately your baby is already on their way. My trust offers them from 39 weeks for anyone who wants them x

I’m having one tomorrow morning at 38 weeks, had one with my son at 37+6 and it worked, I’m high risk and under MFM due to previous still birth and I have a genetic heart condition x

I was told 39 weeks at the earliest unless I could get permission from my consultant to do it at 38 weeks which I have thankfully as I’m being induced at 39 weeks! So my sweep will be my last chance to try and get me going naturally!

Yeah booked for it for the 38th week. Thanks for the advise you guys.
