Baby won't stop spewing milk out sides of mouth when drinking from bottle

Ftm here, my one month old is having issues with excessive spit up while drinking, he also seems to choke sometimes and gets really fussy. I think the flow of the nipple is too fast? Im using Philips event bottles. Please help 😭

I used dr. Browns and I we recommended to use size 0 nipples instead if size 1

Anti colic bottles will help keep the flow reduced

Oh my baby would always spit a lot out…. With the bottle, he just got better after more practice

I think you’re right! I also used Dr. browns but I’m sure Phillips has a slower flow. You could also try paced bottle feeding. Hold the baby upright (almost sitting) and the bottle at a 90 degree angle so that it’s straight in your baby’s mouth and not tilted down. You can also give the baby breaks every few gulps. It’s time consuming but does help!

My boy will be a month in a few days and I really love the evenflo wide balance bottles the most out of my bottle the wide neck nuk bottles are also great

try the evenflo bottles! my son refused to use anything else but those as he would get gassy from other bottles. as soon as we made the switch to evenflo he rarely ever was gassy again.

Have you had him evaluated for tongue or lip ties? We didn’t end up getting my son’s revised. But we did go to a chiropractor to learn how to do stretches. Now he doesn’t spill! And we use the slowest flow nipples. He has no bottle preference either we use a bunch since we got them for free!
