Taking a playpen on holiday…

…has anyone ever done this before?

We are going to Cyprus next week and staying in a villa with family. Our 7.5 month old little one is very close to crawling and loves nothing more than rolling up and down the room to get to what she wants and is miserable if she is being held/not allowed to do her thing. I am so worried about the concrete/stone floors in the villa, she just won’t be safe.

Contemplating taking a playpen with us on holiday, has anyone ever done this before? Any tips?

If not, any other possible solutions? It’s stressing me out! Thank you ❤️

I appreciate the response and of course I don’t want to prevent her from doing her thing, completely the opposite - like I say, I want her to do her thing as much as possible. But I think you might be underestimating how dangerous the floors of a villa are. They are so unsuitable for babies! We are talking shiny, slippery tiles that will seriously hurt them 😩

We went on holiday when my little girl was 5 months and was just beginning to drag herself round at home using her arms, we didn’t take a play pen but we had a travel cot in the hotel room that we’d put toys in and she happily rolled around in there playing. We did also take her playmat that we’d let her roll around on when we was supervised either on the balcony (with a blanket from the room folded underneath for padding) or on any grassy areas. When we got home she started properly crawling within a week! A week of being slightly more contained within a playpen where she can still move around won’t affect her at all, it’s not like your wanting to leave her strapped in a seat for a week! Xx

I appreciate what you are saying, you’re completely right. But none of us are used to it and I don’t want any accidents on holiday 🙏🏼

thank you, yeah that’s my thinking that just over a week will not harm her development in any way. It’s less harmful than me just holding her all the time which will make both of us miserable 🤣 x

I mean I’m assuming you’re not going to be leaving her in it for the entire day anyway 😂 she’ll get plenty of development experiences with all the new things that come with a holiday! Enjoy x

We went away with 11 month old and they gave us a travel cot so we used that as a playpen of a day - absolute life saver!

She was happy sitting playing safely while we got ready. I was also weary of the tiles. I have a bum shuffler as well, so any sharp corners in the tiles would’ve hurt her x

I second hiring one!

You can also create a soft area for her using duvets and blankets and pillows on the floor. I used to this with my boy on holiday but this was before he was crawling so I was not too worried he will go somewhere.

I think it’s a great idea and gives peace of mind about her not hurting herself as you’ll be in different surroundings too! I will definitely be taking something like this when I go away next. We went away with my girl at 5 months and I used the travel cot as a ‘play area’ and she loved that but I’m sure a play pen would be much better for more room etc! ☺️

thank you for this, I contacted them but they are too far away from where I am staying ☹️

Also you can get some really good foldable playpens on Amazon which you can then use at home/garden etc! ☺️ and depending what other items you’re taking on the plane if you’re only taking a pram (1item) you can put that on the plane for free as their other item usually! (Most airlines seem to allow 2 free items)

Avatar

thank you, yes we’ve ordered one for Amazon and between our two girls we are able to take 4 extra items so we will put it in the hold. Hopefully it goes well!

I have no doubt it will! It’s so easy to stress before you go but once you’re there everything will be fine! ☺️ I hope you have a great time and that the play pen is helpful! I don’t doubt it will be!

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
