Potty training

What potties are people buying?

My little one is 18 months on Friday. He definitely isn’t ready just yet, but I’d like to have one in the house for him to get familiar with. Any suggestions? And how do you know when they’re ready and how do you even start?

Brilliant advice here https://eric.org.uk/potty-training/
This is how I potty trained my eldest.
Although, personal preference, we didn’t choose to use a potty at all.

From advice from my sisters and mum, you kind of need to wait until they have some awareness of when they’re going. I think 2 / 2.5 is probably when babies are most commonly ready. You don’t necessarily need to buy a potty, my sister and mum said they never had one. I think at first if you’re using a potty it’s about getting them comfortable with it, like just sitting them on it and letting them get used to the feeling of sitting on the potty.

We’ve been using one for the past few weeks, reason being she started saying poo and pointing at her nappy so I thought hold her over the loo and she went so we just purchased a potty (Amazon) and she’s been using it, she’s not totally out of nappies but the days we are home she’s nappy less and encouraged, her nappy’s at night are always dry in the morning and she has a wee on the potty every morning but I’m not brave enough to risk it just yet 😂 my luck she’ll decide to do both in her sleep.

Thankyou all for advice! My little one isn’t really showing any signs yet! And isn’t dry overnight just yet! I just wanted to see if worth getting one for him to familiarise himself with it so he’s not so worried when he is ready xxx
