Cervical check

I’ve only ever had cervix checks from 38+ but it might be different in different areas. I don’t think they generally like to interfere too much too early in case of increasing risk of infection or accidentally rupturing waters etc but worth an ask x

Usually midwives won't check for any cervical dilation until 38/39 weeks dependant upon area, around the same time they will offer you a sweep. If you don't want a sweep they won't do any checks until you're in labour. They try to avoid when possible as the chances of infection increase each time checks are done.

I’ve never had a cervical check at any of my midwife appointments. My 1st baby was born at 40 weeks and my 2nd was 38 weeks.
You can ask her but it’s normally only triage or labour and delivery that will do dilation checks

My midwife said our trust don’t offer anything like a sweep until 39 weeks but I’m luckily having a sweep tomorrow at 38 weeks as im being induced at 39 weeks. I had to get my consultant to write in my notes that they were ok with it
