Hey colic mamas AKA superhero’s
My baby boy is 10 weeks old today and week 6 to now has been nothing short of hell sadly! Witching hour(s) most evenings, constantly crying when awake etc but it seems to have got worse not better. We’ve been to the doctor who said he’s just colicky, we’ve tried infacol, gripe water etc. I’ve been exclusively breast feeding until the last couple of weeks where we have introduced one bottle of formula during the night just to give me a break.
I was hoping by now it would start easing up not get worse. Please could you share your stories with me?! When did it get better? Did it get worse before it got better?
From a very sad and tired mama 🩵

I took my son to an osteo to help with the gas build up. Usually it does come to an end at 4 months which I know is so crap cause I really struggled. I would look up pages on instagram about colic and things you can do to help your baby. Good luck I hope you find a solution that works

Also I would be giving your baby a probiotic in the formula to help

First of all hang on in there!! I found for us 3/4 months when she started sitting up she was a lot better.
We personally found Dr Brown anti colic bottles the best as she drank A LOT slower (annoying on any later / night feeds but better than that squark non stop). We also used a colic / constipation formula.
Our midwife told us not to use a prep machine as it pumps air into the bottle. It sounds really obvious but just make sure every feed theres no air being sucked in. Then just try keep up right once fed if possible.
My little girls 2 now and had a rough time with colic. Its such a hard stage but I promise it will pass soon xxx

Im so sorry - its rough, hang in there. You’re doing an amazing job.
Our little girl had colic, like you we tried everything. I do think colief helped, although we didn’t try it until quite late. We EBF too, I would drop the colief on my nipple once the let down started.
At around 5 months old, overnight she improved. We’re now nearly at 6 months, and she’s the happiest, smiley little girl.
I used to hate it when people said it gets better, but it honestly does. Hang in there x

It honestly just got better and better when he started to move more, so sitting up at 5/6 months and crawling at 8 months etc! That’s not playing it down how hard those first 5/6 months were, it’s hard to even remember those days tbh! But Honestly he’s the smiliest boy now at 20 months (still a handful though haha)! You can do this mama, just lean on your friends and family as much as possible- and know that you are so resilient and are a super hero too 🩵

Doctors are useless for this in my opinion. I did the osteopath. It somewhat helped. I did chiro and it helped, my chiro told me to introduce a child’s chewable lactase enzyme because he wasn’t breaking down my breastmilk and there was gas in his small intestine. And obviously you can’t burp or fart that out. The enzymes were once a day, during his largest feed. I also removed wheat eggs dairy spinach and tomatoes from my diet. This helped lots as well. Finally when all that didn’t fully fix it, we did craniosacral therapy where we found out his poor stomach was too high and crooked and was causing him tremendous pain if on his tummy. Also caused him to not have a big big feed for his age. We then worked on his nervous system cause he was absolutely stuck in fight or flight it was horrible. But! Craniosacral therapy was the best thing we ever did and we did many sessions right away to make quick quick progress and it worked. My practitioner focused on babies for her practise

There was no waiting it out for me. Ours wasn’t right at birth. There were signs but it wasn’t like your experience. The crying gradually increased. I didn’t even realize it was colic at first until we had four days of nonstop and I called my chiro to rescue us. It’s torture but you absolutely can get ahead of it. They cry cause they’re in pain. Does your baby have any sort of physical tightness? Like an unusually strong neck? Or very tight arms and legs?? 🩷
