It’s Not advised whilst breastfeeding xx

Hello!! I’m a tattoo artist and a mum and essentially there is so little evidence for anything pregnancy/ breastfeeding, so just because it’s adviced against doesn’t necessarily mean much.

The main concern with getting tattooed whilst breastfeeding is the risk of infection, and infection being passed to your baby. You could try and pump prior to getting a tattoo and then try bottle feeding expressed milk whilst your tattoo is healing (but you would need a lot).

I combi fed so I got tattooed and then would bottle feed for the first 2 weeks after which is over when an infection would occur. Definitely make sure your body is feeling good before you get a tattoo, as tattoos do take hit to your immune system. If you’re already feeling a bit run down a tattoo will make you feel worse xx

my tattoo artist doesn’t tattoo anyone who’s pregnant or breastfeeding x

Give it a year wait till everything heals up and the skin settles in that area before feeling ok to tattoo
