When does it get easier

There is a 17 month age gap between my two. My youngest is 3 weeks old and I am struggling! I haven’t even managed to leave the house with them both yet, I don’t even manage to get dressed or brush my teeth and eat most days. I’m exhausted and my youngest only wants to be held and rocked to sleep. I miss being able to play with my toddler. Please tell me these trenches don’t last forever

Hi Mama! My youngest is 4 months old, and my oldest is 2.5 years old.

Honestly, this stage is very challenging. I still need to rock my baby to sleep for every nap, but I feel more confident and at peace knowing this phase won’t last forever. I think things will get easier once the baby is down to two naps a day.

I haven’t gone out alone with both of them yet, except for nearby places like the grocery store or a quick walk.

Give yourself some grace, and remember that later on, you'll be grateful for having them close in age.

Oh wow, how are you finding them together? Does your eldest get jealous?

I keep telling myself it won’t last forever, I’m trying to enjoy it and soak it up but finding it very difficult 😣
Yes once the naps drop it will be easier to work around them!

Thankyou for reassuring me, I’m glad I’m not alone! I feel awful when I say it’s hard as I should be so grateful 🥲

I hope things ease up for you and your little ones soon! Thankyou again! Xx

In the first two months, he struggled a lot, but now he gets excited to see her every morning. He tries to play with her and helps me when I’m changing her. Occasionally, he does something crazy, but each day things seem to improve.

I’m not any different from you; sometimes, I just wait for the day to be over because all I want is to put them to sleep. I feel terrible about it, but taking care of two kids without family support and without daycare is incredibly exhausting.

On tough days, I pray to God for strength and a change in perspective. There’s no other place where I could be more needed than at home.

Things will get better! ❤️

My kids are also 17 months apart. They are now 2.4 months and 11 months old. It got easier around 6 months for me. When my youngest started crawling. Then easier again when my youngest got down to 2 naps a day cuz that second nap overlaps with sibling. Of course it is still challenging at times but they love each other so much. Sometimes they play together nicely. Other times not as much but they love being in each other’s company. It’s also a little stressful cuz we are also potty training 🥲

The point is that is does get easier, faster than you think. I know the beginning is rough. It’s so hard. You are literally in the trenches just trying to get through each day without tears and breaking down. I say focus on your reasons for doing this. Focus on the fact that they will be each other’s best friends. They will be so close. Get help when you can, however you can. You can do it 👍🏾💪🏾

Who said you should be grateful, Mama?
The first 3 months are the toughest. The first year is tricky, especially with no help. Give yourself grace mama youre doing the best you can and that's all your babies are asking for. Don't aim for perfection you'll always be disappointed.

I don’t have any advice on it getting easier. Also currently have a 17 month old and 3 week old. The newborn wants to be held, he’s up all night. I am exhausted and in the same boat mama! It’s hard. Only thing getting me through is knowing how fast the time goes so trying my best to soak it all in. Even though it’s not easy! You’re doing great!

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one who’s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that I’m “losing my sh*t.” Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like I’m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? I’m already pretty much decided that I’ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but I’m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what I’m going through.

Rapid cool/ hot shot method

Sorry if this sound stupid but how are we doing the hot shot method?
Are we boiling the kettle and letting it cool a little before adding to hot flask? Then with the cool water do you boil the kettle and leave it to cool right down before putting into another flask?
My baby brain is fried trying to work out the easiest way!
